The Government Aquarium is placed at the entrance of the Cubbon Park and is one of the must see places in the city of Bangalore / Bengaluru.

The Aquarium is located at the entrance of the elegant and magnificient Cubbon Park on the Kasturba Road and housed in an octagonal shaped building which itself has a beautiful style. You can say that the aquarium is the second largest in the whole of India and consisits of various species of fish from Chennai, Mumbai, South America, South East Asia, Japan and SriLanka.
About the Government Aquarium, Bangalore
The Government Aquarium is one of the places in the city of Bangalore, built in the 16th century, which is an important tourist destination and a not to be missed one at that. This Aquarium was inagurated in 1983 and is maintained by the Department of Fisheries of the Karnataka state government.
The Aquarium also boasts of exotic species and varieties of Aquatic life and has on display the largest number of fish which are cultivable and ornamental pet fish. dmission fees. They have both indigenous and exotic varieties of fresh water fish which can be seen at the Aquarium. There are about 70 varieties of fishes in the Government Aquarium. of Bangalore, for example, Gold fish, Blue Gourami, angel fish, freshwater prawns, red tail shark, catla, Indian tiger barb, Siamese fighters, Mathseer etc.
About the Aquarium Complex at Cubbon Park
The complex consists of three floors and on the ground floor the office and the laboratory of the Aquarium are located. You can also buy feed for the fish from the outlet there.
In the first floor you can see 14 big tanks which are home to larger varieties of fish and are cultivable.
In the second and the third floor you can see two rows of water tanks. The upper row has 23 medium sized tanks and the lower has 46 small tanks. These tanks are used for displaying only ornamntal fish.
Timings - 10 am to 5 .15 pm
The Aquarium remains closed on Mondays and second tuesdays of every month and on general holidays as well.
