Summer has started and its time for vacation. Even though its a vacation time, we cannot afford to indulge in rich, fried and junk food. Since the food we eat plays a major role in how we feel. During summer season, we should be very keen in selecting the right food, the foods that have a cooling effect on the body. Eating these cooling effect foods not only will fulfil our appetite but also keep our energy level high. We can take watermelon, yogurt, banana, geen leafy vegetables to name a few.

One of the best cooling food is watermelon, and it is also available in plenty during summer season. It contains 80% water. It is a low-calorie fruit and its naturally sweet. Muskmelons also serve the same purpose.

Yogurt plays an important role in beating the summer heat. The bacteria present in yogurt helps in digestive tract maintenance. So it is better to have yogurt. It can be had in the form of buttermilk, lassi, raita and also mixed with fruits.

During summer, body loses lot of water due to excessive sweating, so it is better to consume fruits that are a rich source of potassium. Fruits and vegetables that are rich in potassium, help regulate fluids in the body. Bananas, green leafy vegetables and dried fruits are rich in potassium.
