World Environment Day on 05th June 2011 in Bangalore

Bangalore celebrated the World Environment day on 05th June 2011. For the first time India is the global host of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) World Environment Day (WED) 2011 is celebrating the theme 'Forests : Nature at your Service'. World Environment Day 2011 highlights the vital need of conserving the forests and promoting a more sustainable relationship with nature.

Nature Camp for differently able Children at IWST and Green Marathoon was held. TCS 10 Kilometers run was held by the Government and Private officials. This run was organized to highlight event to mark World Environment Day for the green cause.

The route for the schedule started at 8:00 AM on 05th June 2011 from Anand Rao Circle, Freedom Park, KR circle and Nrupatunga Road to Kempegowda Road.

BBMP for the Green Cause and for the World Environment Day planted one lakh saplings in eight zones to mark the day. Mayor Sharadamma planted 700 saplings at Happy Valley, Uttarahalli on Saturday the 04th June 2011.
