The Bengaluru International Airport has been a boon for travellers, having replaced the previous HAL Bangalore International Airport.

Getting to the Airport:
Before you head to the Airport, remember to leave a few hours early. Yes, this is what most travellers are advised to do, but this is especially the case with Bangalore. Why? Well, because you never know when some massive jam will create a speedbreaker in your journey to the airport! In fact, people are constantly complaining of increased construction activity and lesser infrastructure facilities in the city. So don't miss your flight needlessly.

Irrespective of the amount of luggage you are carrying, instead of hiring an expensive rental car, opt for the air-conditioned Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus services(note: non-AC buses are also available). These are regular, efficient, and comfortable. They operate from 12 different points in the city every 30 minutes, throughout the day. What's more, all the buses have adequate baggage storage space.

At the Airport:
* The domestic and international departure lounges, and the majority of the retail outlets are located on the First floor (known as level 2).

* The check-in facilities as well as baggage reclaiming sections are located on the ground floor (known as level 1).

* Medical care available at a clinic within the Airport premises.

* Domestic departure lounges available for passengers of Air India, Jet Airways, and Kingisher airlines.

* International departure lounges available for passengers of Kingfisher Airlines and guests of The Oberoi and Leela Hotels.

* Retails shops selling handicrafts and other goods available at both arrival and departure areas. Duty free shops also cover a large area in the departure section & a separate area in the arrivals section.
