Bangalore Metro Train ( Namma Metro) Ticketing System and Fares



BMRCL issues metro tickets in 4 different forms for the passenger's convenience. One can choose the type of ticket depending on his/her usage. The different tickets available are :


1. Contactless Smart Tokens(CST)
2. Contactless Smart Cards (CSC)
3. Group Tickets
4. Integrated Metro-Bus Tickets


Of these, CST, CSC & Group tickets are available in Metro stations only, where as MBT passes are available in Metro stations & BMTC buses also.

1. Contactless Smart Tokens (CST)


CST can be used for single journey only. The ticket rates are :
Byappanahalli - Swami Vivekanda Road (M.G. Road - Trinity) - Rs.10
Byappanahalli - Halasuru (M.G. Road - Indiranagar) - Rs.12
Byappanahalli - Trinity (M.G.Road - Swami Vivekananda Road ) - Rs.14
Byappanahalli - M.G. Road (M.G. Road - Byappanahalli ) - Rs. 15

2. Contactless Smart Cards (CSC)


CSC can be used for multiple journeys. The passenger has to buy the CSC from metro station by paying Rs.50 (non refundable). The he / she to recharge it with VARSHIK or SANCHAR or both depending on the type usage.

a) VARSHIK ( Stored Value Tickets)

The passenger can have additional money stored in this ticket. Charge will be reduced automatically with each journey. VARSHIK is best suited for one who travel between different stations frequently. The CSC can be charged with multiples of RS.50 (ie Rs.50,100,150 ....Rs.1500). Once charged, it is valid for 1 year . Adding value to VARSHIK is possible through :

1. Metro Stations.
2. ATMs / Net Banking / Mobile Banking of State Bank Of India.
3. BMRCL Website.
4. Scratch Cards through sms.

The ticket fares are :
Byappanahalli - Swami Vivekanda Road (M.G. Road - Trinity) - Rs. 8.50

Byappanahalli - Halasuru (M.G. Road - Indiranagar) - Rs.10.20

Byappanahalli - Trinity (M.G.Road - Swami Vivekananda Road ) - Rs.11.90

Byappanahalli - M.G. Road (M.G. Road - Byappanahalli ) - Rs. 12.75


b) SANCHAR (Trip Tickets)

SANCHAR is suitable for commuters traveling between fixed stations (ex. students, Employees etc). Trip ticket can also be used for traveling between other stations with same or less ticket fare. SANCHAR can be charged with 10, 40,50 or 100 trips.

Fare ranges from Rs.80 to Rs.1150 depends on the distance and number of trips you choose.

3. Group Tickets


Group tickets are meant for passengers traveling as a group of 10 or more. A passenger can avail a discount of about 10% than the normal ticket fare (CST) by using Group ticket .

4. Integrated Metro-Bus Tickets (MBT Passes)


For the convenience of commuters using both Metro & Bus services, BMRC & BMTC together introduced a common MBT ( Metro-Bus-Terminal) pass. Passengers can buy the MBT pass from Metro stations or BMTC buses. There are 2 types of passes. Saraag & Saral. Using a Saraag (fare - Rs.70), a commuter can travel unlimited in metro and all non a/c buses for a whole day. Saral pass (fare - Rs.110)offers travel in metro & all buses including a/c Vajra services( except Vayu Vajra- Airport buses). BMTC also planning to start a feeder bus service around the metro stations upto a max. of 5 kms. The feeder buses will be painted similar to metro train for easy identification.
