What are the effects of tree pruning

Pruning of the tree is nothing but cutting few unwanted branches of the tree in order to promote new flush growth and for better development

1. Pruning is usually done in the front yard to avoid the infestation of the tree by any serious pests and diseases
2. Topping of the tree is nothing but cutting the top of the tree in order to promote new flush growth and to increase its vigorous growth.
3. Bad pruning practices can hurt the tree much and rather than increasing its vigor , it will harm the tree by causing more pests and diseases
4. Bad pruning is dangerous . For example instead of cutting few weak branches , if we cut the strong branches , it is more dangerous for the favourable tree growth
5. Bad cutting of the tree can cause numerous new problems
6. Growth rate speeds up when first topping is done by cutting weak, senile, disease and pest infected branches , but if second topping is done , its not good for the tree
7. Large scale removal of leaves by topping will starve the tree as tree produces its own food by photosynthesis which takes place in leaves only
8. vigorous pruning of trees may sometimes leads to weak limbs , destroy the natural shape of the tree . Hence topping creates more problem.

Good pruning differs from bad pruning in the following ways

1.Good pruning practices will become free of pests , diseases .
2.The old and senile branches can be removed which increases growth of the tree
3.The new flush growth will be increased and may also lead to the higher yield of the crops
